James Anthony is a graduate of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School of Law at the University of California at Davis (King Hall). James is a former Oakland Deputy City Attorney, where he worked as a prosecutor, closing down problem properties. This experience gives him the insider’s view on how cities look at collectives, control them, and permit them or close them. James has been involved with drug policy reform for decades. He worked on the Measure Z campaign in Oakland, and is land use counsel to collectives all over the state. He is a speaker for LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition), and served on the board of Green Aid, the legal defense fund first started to defend Ed Rosenthal.
